Engage. Think. Reflect. Question. Play. Laugh.
Challenge. Affirm. Learn. Grow.
At Trinity, we are lifelong learners because we are lifelong disciples, called to love God with all our heart, strength, and mind — from the smallest of children to the most seasoned of adults. At Trinity, there is a place for you to learn and grow closer to Christ and your neighbor, no matter where you find yourself in life. Throughout the year, we explore the heart of the Christian faith, challenge ourselves to live more deeply in Christ's way of love, and engage critically with the real-world issues that confront modern life. We have formation classes every Sunday and special topical series or featured speakers at different times throughout the year.
Children are taught through a method termed "Godly Play" based upon the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach teaches classical Christian language in a way that enhances the child’s authentic experience of God so it can contribute to the creative life of the child and the world. Children also help lead our worship several times a year through music and “Everybody Upstairs” Bible lessons.
Teenagers meet on Sunday mornings for fellowship, prayer, and study of the Bible and church tradition. They hear testimonies from adults in the church and learn from lessons planned by Debbie Cox, Nanette Popa, Kat Lomuscio, and others. They serve and play together at EYC events and summer trips. A large part of their formation comes from helping lead our worship as acolytes on Sunday mornings, and they planned and participated in leadership of the whole service on Youth Sunday.
Adult programs are varied and are co-planned by the clergy and lay members to encompass Biblical studies, theological topics, church history, and current issues. The classes are taught by the clergy, members, and special guests, all of whom bring various backgrounds and expertise to encourage questioning, learning, and growing. We also offer a number of retreats, both day and overnight, and bring in special guest speakers several times a year.
