So God created humankind in his image,

in the image of God he created them;

male and female he created them. — Genesis 1:27

In the opening sentences of the Bible, we learn that God didn’t merely create humankind, but God created us in God’s own “image.” In Latin, it’s known as “Imago Dei.” It's a curious and unique qualifier in the text. Humankind is not created as all other elements of creation are; they are created in God’s image. It’s self-reflective. The King James Version of the scripture is probably the best English language description: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.”

Without being the creator, humankind is somehow a reflection of the Divine. What does that mean to us? How do we live that out? How does this belief shape our lives and our walk in the world? What does it mean to us today that we believe all human beings are created in the image of God? How does that shape our worldview and our actions? How does it shape what we do at Trinity?

Throughout the 2025-2026 season, each one of our classes will come back to this question.

Come to our Adult Formation program and be a part of the discovery.
