Trinity is celebrating not one, not two, but three newly published authors in our midst: Ann Howell, Lee Stockdale, and Nancy Schutt McCorkle. Their stories are very different, but together they say something beautiful about the kind of imaginative, thoughtful, courageous community we have here at Trinity!
Ann Howell – Never Let Me Go

Ann’s debut novel, Never Let Me Go, sweeps readers into Civil War–era North Carolina through the fierce, determined Rowan O’Clanahan, who disguises herself as a Confederate soldier to protect her brother. Her journey with the sharp‑eyed journalist William Reed gives the story both romance and moral tension, and the result is a page‑turner with a big, beating heart. As fellow Trinitarians, we get the added delight of knowing that this richly imagined world was crafted right here in Asheville by someone who worships and wonders alongside us. Lee Stockdale – Bronxville

Lee’s memoir, Bronxville, takes the raw material of a hard adolescence and turns it into something wise, bracing, and surprisingly funny. He brings his award‑winning poet’s eye to the “new kid” years in a New York suburb, chronicling heartbreak, dark humor, and the slow discovery that even unlikely places can become home. For those of us who know Lee from around Trinity, it is a special kind of fun to see that familiar mix of depth and playfulness splashed across the pages of a book with his name on the cover. Nancy Schutt McCorkle – The End of the Sidewalk

Nancy’s forthcoming middle‑grade novel, The End of the Sidewalk, whisks us to Jackson, Mississippi, in 1961, where Freedom Riders roll into town just as Trudy Scuffer is facing the everyday drama of a new school and a shaky best friendship. The book invites young readers into questions of courage, justice, and loyalty, all grounded in stories drawn from Nancy’s own family history in Civil Rights activism. Look for The End of the Sidewalk to be released sometime this month! Click here to purchase The End of the Sidewalk.
Be sure to congratulate Ann, Lee, and Nancy the next time you see them!
