A Letter from Our Rector

July 13, 2026

Dear Trinity Friends,

I write with a grateful heart to share how our Appreciative Inquiry process, God’s Church, Our Story, is unfolding. More than 300 members of our parish have taken part—an overwhelming success by any measure, and a testament to how deeply this congregation loves Trinity and cares about her future.

As we listen to these many voices, specific themes are emerging: clear affirmations of Trinity’s strengths as a congregation, and passionate wishes for the years ahead.

In the next phase, after a brief summer hiatus, we will gather a group of members to pray and to discern how those strengths and wishes align—dreaming together about how best to focus our staffing, our energies, and our witness in the years to come.

None of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you for your faithful support of Trinity and of this holy work of listening and discernment. I ask for your continued prayers as we take this next step together.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

ABOUT APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY

Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a way of helping a community grow by starting with what is already working. Instead of asking what is broken and how to fix it, AI asks: What gives us life? When have we been at our best? And what might we build from there?

The name says it well. To appreciate is to recognize and value the best in people and the world around us. To inquire is to explore, ask questions, and stay open to new possibilities. AI rests on a simple belief: every community already has strengths, successes, and moments of real joy to build on.

Its heart is the power of a good question. The questions we ask shape what we notice, and the stories we tell shape where we go next. Asking about our best moments, rather than our problems, builds energy, trust, and hope.

AI moves through four phases, known as the 4 D’s:

Throughout, everyone has a voice. Our shared stories and hopes become the foundation for what comes next at Trinity.

DISCOVER

What gives life? We share stories of the best of what is, and we listen to one another.

DREAM

What might be? Together we imagine Trinity at its best and name what we

hope for.

DESIGN

What should be? We turn that dream into concrete ideas for how our community could look and work.

Destiny

How do we empower, learn, and improvise? Each person takes up the part they feel called to, and we support one another as the vision comes to life.
