This is the third time for Trinity and Central Methodist to host Room In the Inn this year. Our summer week is August 2 to 8. The location is at Central United Methodist Church, just up the street.
We look forward to this special week in which we and the Methodists offer Church Street hospitality to a maximum of twelve homeless women for seven nights, including dinner, breakfast, and boxed lunches. Please check your calendars and consider this fine opportunity for service and fellowship. The sign-up sheets are in the hall. Call us if you have any questions. Many thanks!

Another Resurrection Story
- The Homeless helping the Homeless
Members of the Church of the Advocate, a diocesan ministry to the homeless meeting weekly in the Undercroft of Trinity Church, formed a Katrina Relief crew and joined in the reconstruction of homes and lives in Bay St. Louis, Ms., April 26- May 2, 2009. It all started when Will Deal, a member of St. Luke's in Boone approached Ham Fuller, Vicar of the Advocate, and asked whether or not members might be willing to help in the on-going relief work of Hurricane Katrina devastation.

Trinity Women’s Book Club
The Trinity Women’s Book Club will meet on Monday, July 6, to discuss The Shack, by William P. Young. This controversial novel has been on best-seller lists for more than a year; one of those surprise hits that has evidently touched a chord with the public.
“The Shack cuts through the clichés of both religion and bad writing to reveal something compelling and beautiful about life’s integral dance with the divine” • to: "If you haven't read The Shack, don't!" Does it have “the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress did for his” or is it "deeply subversive," "scripturally incorrect" and “downright dangerous?"
Come to Erwin Gunnells’ house on Monday night, July 6, at 6:00 to give your opinion. The courageous and impartial Beverly Brock will lead our discussion. Bring a covered dish to share (no desserts, please, unless you really, really want to make us fat.)

Redwood Chapel Renovations Complete
Most of you have noticed that there has been a constant flurry of construction over the past few months as we renovated several areas in the undercroft of the church. I am pleased to announce that the Redwood Chapel is completed and is already in use. We hope you like the changes and will visit the area soon to take a look. It is open daily for prayer and meditation.
Forty new chapel chairs were purchased for the Redwood Chapel and we want to offer these chairs as memorial gifts for those who might wish to remember a loved one in this way. The cost of each chair is $400.00. All gifts are tax deductible and will include the addition of a small brass plaque added to the chair with the name of the individual in whose memory it is given.
In addition, we have furnished the chapel with all new prayer books and hymnals and these, too, can be given as memorials. The cost of each is $15.00 and will include a plate included on the inside cover with the name of the individual being remembered.
If you wish to make a contribution to either of these memorials, please send a check payable to Trinity Church, 60 Church Street, Asheville, NC 28801 and send it to the attention of Betsy Edmonds. Please use this order form: <Click Here>

Daughters of the King Prayer Cards
Trinity Daughters have a new prayer request card available near the votive candles. The prayer cards can be placed in our prayer request box located on the visitors table in the hall. You may also email your prayer request. As Daughters we have taken a vow of daily prayer and service. Please let us know if you have a specific or anonymous prayer request. We will hold your request in confidence and offer you up to God on a daily basis.
If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Katherine Hensley at 275-1959 or by email.
Are you called to be a Daughter? - The Daughters of the King are a group of women living the Rule of Prayer and Service to our neighbors. We are women to whom parishioners can look for love, and for help in time of need, loneliness or strangeness. We seek to walk with God as our guide and try to draw those with whom we come into contact into the Church. We are women who work to spread Christ's Kingdom here on earth. We can never forget that prayer is the foundation from which our service grows.

Men's Bible Class
This class meets at 7:30 am in the Clark Room, ending no later than 8:30.
All men are invited to join the group. It begins with Morning Prayer and then studies one of the lessons for the upcoming Sunday, or some other topic the group decides to pursue.
Led by The Rev. Ingram Parmley, the Bible study utilizes both traditional approaches to scripture and the insights of modern scholarship. Thus, participants are exposed to a truly Anglican approach to biblical understanding, calling into play all three legs of the "three cornered stool of Anglicanism": scripture, tradition, and reason. Coffee and snacks will be available.

Tithes and Offerings - The tithes and offerings of all who worship at Trinity Church support its mission and outreach activities and allow us to do God’s work in the world. Please consider contributing to further that work by making a financial pledge to our parish. You can contact Betsy Edmonds, our financial assistant, at 253-9361 or by email for more information or to receive pledge envelopes.
Remembering Trinity - Please remember Trinity Episcopal Church in your will or estate plans. Help us to carry on the heritage started by those who have gone before us. A gift to the Trinity Church Endowment Fund will permanently preserve your gift for the generations that will follow.

New to our
Parish?
First of all, let’s say welcome
to Trinity Church. We hope that
you will find our church to be a
place of spiritual growth and
comfort in the years ahead. We
also want to be sure that we
have fully welcomed you into the
community. More than likely, we
already have your mailing
address or you wouldn’t be
receiving this newsletter.
However, there are some other
items we want to be sure to
mention to you. Listed below is
a short checklist of things you
might want to consider.
In addition to your address, do
we have your home and work phone
numbers, e-mail addresses and
fax numbers? We would like
to include this information in
our new parish directory that
will soon be published. Do
we have your birthday and
anniversary dates, if you are
married, so that we can include
them on our list? Both of
the above can be given to us by
either completing a parish
information sheet or e-mailing
Mary Summersette.
If you have children between the
ages of eight and high school,
we would love for them to
participate in our Acolyte
program. We have over 60 young
people in our program and
en-courage all young people to
be a part of this experience.
Simply e-mail
Alastair Odom, our
acolyte master and let her know
your children would like to
participate.
You may also see a ministry you
wish to participate in yourself.
It may be serving as a chalice
bearer, or a lector or usher for
our services. It could be
volunteering to help with
breakfast or Sunday school or
one of our many other groups.
Just let us know and we will put
you in touch with the correct
person.
Email us and we will
follow up. You can also
find a list of ministries and
contacts on the
Ministries page.
We encourage each of our new
members also to offer their
financial support to the parish.
If you have not yet made a
pledge and wish to do so,
contact
Betsy Edmonds.
If you have been a member of
another parish and would like
officially to transfer your
membership, e-mail
Jane Coxe and
she will handle the paperwork
for you.
Once again, welcome! We are
glad you are here at Trinity
Church!

Vision Statement
"Trinity Church is a nurturing Christian
community
providing opportunities for worship, spiritual
growth and commitment
in a supportive and open atmosphere."
Bad
Weather Policy
In case of heavy snow, ice, sleet or any other
calamity that might befall us on a Sunday
morning, know that our policy is that the 8:00
AM service, all Christian education programs and
the breakfast are cancelled. However, the 10:45
AM service will go on as scheduled. That’s when
we will be reminded of John Chrysostom’s
prayer…”when two or three are gathered together
your name.” I would caution all of you, though,
to use great care in attempting to make it to
church in bad weather and not take any undue
risks to your safety.
