About the Event
Join the Rector on Sunday, January 10, and Sunday, January 17 as he interviews Dr. Jospeh Fox, Vice-Chair of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe Counties. Dr. Fox will share the story and work of the Buncombe County Remembrance Project. The project is a community coalition aimed at researching racially motivated lynchings in our county and educating the public about them. The first step in any healing process is acknowledgment and recognition. The project is a direct response to the Equal Justice Initiative's National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which opened in Montgomery, Alabama in April of 2018. We will touch upon the dynamics of healing. "We all want racial healing," says Trinity's Rector, Scott White. "The challenge is taking the steps to get to healing. Many of us struggle to understand what those steps are, how we can participate, and what to believe when some of those steps make us feel uncomfortable. Let's wonder and learn together, without shame for any questions or struggles we have in our understanding."
