About the Event
Coffee Conversations Live Sundays in Advent Gather together at 9:30 a.m. on Zoom.
Join us Sundays in Advent for informal coffee conversations together on Zoom with a few special guests who will share their experiences of the outdoor, like Trinitarian High Garst who recently completed a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail, Jessica Forbes LeFiles, new director of Camp Henry and Outdoor Programming, Coleen & David Schnitzer of Created for Adventure, and more.
This week, we are joined by Frank Tindall, Trinitarian and Associate Director of Falling Creek Camp in Zirconia, N.C., and he'll be sharing about the accessibility of the spirituality of the wilderness and how you don't have to be in the backcountry to see the effects of the wild on the soul.
The Wilderness features prominently in Scripture, from the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after being liberated to Jesus fasting in the wilderness after his baptism. Moses famously told Pharoah, Let My people go that they may celebrate a feast to me in the wilderness." Hikers and backpackers have transformative experiences in it and we send our kids to camp in it at Camp Henry. Millions of people flock to our Blue Ridge Mountains each year for a taste of the wilderness. What is it about the wilderness that makes it such a spiritually significant place? What does the wilderness evoke for you, a place of freedom and independence, danger and desolation?
Meeting will open at 9:20 and begin at 9:30.
