Stewardship Campaign 2021

from our wardens

As we move into the Fall it is that time of year when we consider our life together at Trinity Church and our financial support of our mission and ministry. We must recognize the unprecedented times we find ourselves in. Everyone of us has been affected by this pandemic. For some the threat has been financial as much as physical and we know this to be true for some of our own members as well.

We hope you had a chance to see the recent Sunday Adult Forum on YouTube. If not, we encourage you to take a moment to hear the details about Trinity’s financial health at this time and our challenges for 2021. It is about 20 minutes but it outlines our situation very well. The link to the video is below but you can go to youtube.com and search for Trinity Episcopal Church, Asheville in the search box. The forum is titled, Trinity Financial Health 2020/2021 and may be viewed on our Adult Formation page, or below.

In short, we have been blessed by strong individual giving, yet Trinity’s 2021 finances will be strained by the loss of much relied upon donations above and beyond individual pledges and gifts. We receive nearly $200,000 of income from our endowment funds, parking lot and building use. We expect these sources of income to be reduced, perhaps by as much as 50% in 2021.

Your Vestry has asked Dillon Manly to show, on your information sheet, what your gift might look like if it was increased by 2% or 3% or 5%. Your prayerful consideration and your gift of any amount is a true blessing.

As leaders of your Vestry, it is our joy to encourage you to join us in supporting Trinity church in the coming year by making a financial pledge when an email invitation and online form arrive in you in-box next week. Your participation makes a difference now like it never has before. As has been described by the Rector, our Stewardship team is offering an electronic “pre-campaign” to all members just (as we did last year) before our house-to-house campaign begins in October. Each parishioner is being offered a two-week opportunity to make his or her 2021 pledge online. Those who participate online will not be included in the house-to-house campaign come November.

If you have a financial history with Trinity, enclosed is your personalized financial information prepared and sealed confidentially by our Financial Assistant, Dillon Manly. We hope this information is helpful to you in your prayerful consideration.

On September 15, you will receive a link to an online pledge form (keep the enclosed information from Dillon nearby to help with your considerations). Your response through the online form is confidential and will go directly to Dillon Manly.

We hope you will agree that during these troubling times Trinity has been an anchor of hope and encouragement — a place for our souls to find rest.
