Bob
Carr
Bob is “almost” an Asheville native, having moved here when he
was 6 or 7 months old. He is a cradle Episcopalian, having been
brought up at All Souls, but coming to Trinity to attend Boy
Scout meetings as a member of Troop 11.
He married
life-long Trinitarian and third-generation native, Emily Schuber,
at Trinity in 1952. Their son and daughter were raised at
Trinity.
“Trinity is just
the place to be to try to have a small hand in God’s work.”

Chris
Dismukes
Chris has been a member of Trinity since she moved to Asheville
in 2000 with her husband, Paul, and their two children. Her
connection to Trinity goes back much further than this, however,
due to her family’s longstanding ties to Western North Carolina.
She and Paul were married in Trinity in 1987 and their first
child, Blair, was baptized here. Their second child, Elizabeth,
was baptized in Paul’s family parish, Christ Church, on St.
Simon’s Island Georgia.
Because she
missed her Women’s Bible study at Holy Innocents, Christ asked
our then– rector, Bill Whisenhunt, to initiate one here. Their
first meeting was September 11, 2001. The group has met every
Tuesday morning since then. Chris has also been a delegate to
Convention twice, served on the Diocesan Executive Committee for
three years and worked on the Committee for Treasures for a
Treasure and the Retreats for a Retreat for the past three
years. (Lake Logan Episcopal Center fundraising efforts).
Currently, Chris is the vice-chair for the board of Deerfield
Episcopal Retirement Community, a member of the Advisory Board
for Lake Logan Episcopal Center and a member of Trinity’s Flower
Guild. She is a past member of the Advisory Board.

Carole
Hilderbran
When asked to consider her favorite things that she’s done at
Trinity, the top of Carole Hilderbran’s list was organizing the
Parish Overnights at Lake Logan. In addition, Carole has served
on the Altar Guild, participated in the Tuesday morning Women’s
Bible Study, led a Wine & Dine group as captain, and spent many
a Sunday morning with the babies and toddlers in the church
nursery.
When asked to
recount important memories of Trinity, she listed the following:
(1) Ernestine Tuton sending Ed Bleynat to her doorstep in 2001
to invite Carole and Greg to the first ever Young & Restless
gathering. After Greg opened the door, Ed introduced himself by
saying, “I’m not a Mormon, but I have come to invite you to
church.” (2) Watching Augusta Anderson, with Lake Logan as the
backdrop, explain to Emily Imes and Maggie Hilderbran the
meaning of “sordidness” before they read James 1:21 at the
Parish Overnight Worship Service.
Carole’s
background is in finance and human resources. She has an MBA
from Wake Forest University, and she worked as a Relationship
Manager in the Private Bank at NCNB/NationsBank, then as
fee-only financial planner in Charlotte. Since moving to
Asheville, Carole has worked part-time at Carolina Day School as
the Payroll and Benefits Manager.
She has been a
parishioner at Trinity for about 10 years. She moved to
Asheville in 2001 with her husband, Greg, daughter, Maggie, and
son, Scott. “I am honored to be asked to be a vestry candidate
and, this year, the timing felt right to say yes. I find the
election process is very comforting: if God intends for me to
serve in this capacity, then the election will reflect that
will; if God intends for me to serve in another way, then the
election will reflect that as well.”

Chris
Kamm
Chris was raised in the Episcopal Church, beginning with St.
Bartholomew’s Parish in White Plains,NY. He has lived more
places than can be listed here, but it is noteworthy to observe
that he has lived in Asheville longer than anywhere else. Most
recently, he and his wife, Annette, relocated from San Francisco
to this region in 1997. On arrival they attended services at St.
James Parish, Hendersonville. When they bought their house in
central Asheville in 2000, they soon looked for a church to
which they could walk or ride bikes. At Chris’s first visit to
the 8:00 AM service at Trinity, Mr. James Lee welcomed him. That
took care of that decision.
Since 2003, Chris
has involved himself as Lector and Intercessor at the early
service. Additionally, he has found his own private ministry as
the silent director of pew-kneeler repair and restoration, a
service he has enjoyed providing to the church for eight years.
Chris owns his
own business, Glarner Design, and is a member of the Southern
Highlands Craft Guild. His medium is woodcraft, and he has
several lines of boxes and small casework. In this capacity he
maintains a wholesale studio business in Arden. (In an earlier
time, he was educated as an economist, and worked in New York as
such prior to a big career change in 1982.) Those that know him
will now guess that all remaining time is spent riding bikes,
road and track.

Tina
McGuire
Tina is a “cradle” Episcopalian having been raised at St.
Michael’s in the Hills in Toledo, Ohio. She attended an
Episcopal boarding school and an Episcopal college both in New
England and then married John, a Presbyterian (!), who later was
confirmed at Trinity Church in Myrtle Beach. They moved to
Asheville with their three sons in July 1978 where on the third
day in their new house they were invited by Bob and Suzie Byron
to a neighborhood gathering to meet the new rector of Trinity
Church. That next Sunday they attended Trinity, sat in the first
pew – always in the front pew so John, Jr. could continue to
look for the Holy Ghost – and have never left!
During the past
33 years, Tina has been involved with Church activities on many
levels. She served for several years as chairman of The
Christian Education Committee and was extremely involved in
teaching Sunday School, running Vacation Bible School and
creating new curricula. She has also been a Lector for many,
many years, served on the Vestry in the early 1990’s, served on
many Every Member Canvas’, and was on the Capital Campaign
Steering Committee back in the '90's. She has also been a
long-time Altar Guild member of which she has been chairman two
times. She is on the Trinity Art Guild and her most recent big
accomplishment has been the genesis of the Trinity Flower Guild,
of which she has been its leader for the past four years.
Tina is very
active in the community. She serves on “several” boards and
committees that involve the nonprofits, a state university board
of trustees, a foundation and, formerly, a city council board.
Many these endeavors involve the advocacy of the arts for all
ages and facets of our lives both here in Asheville and across
the state and a several have involved working with our
community's fine organizations that serve those who are at risk.
“I am humbled and flattered by the nomination to serve on the
Vestry. Throughout these past 33 years in Asheville, my life has
been filled with the typical busy-ness we all have and I have
been thankful for all those growing experiences. But the most
treasured of all is my connection with Trinity. No matter what,
Trinity has always been a solid foundation for love, faith and
support. I would hope that by being a member of the Vestry, I
could continue to build on that foundation and preserve that
faithful tradition as we go forward with these very exciting
times ahead!” |
