Ministry & Mission Conference

Exciting news! The Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile will be the keynote speaker/teacher at the annual Ministry & Mission Conference (M&M) on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

The conference will be held at Trinity, Asheville. For the past few years we have had the conference at First Baptist Church in Asheville. This year’s place and date are changing, as is the format! Mark your calendars now as you don't want to miss Dr. Zscheile's teaching about living into our identity as a missionary Episcopal Church in a changing world.

The Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile is a professor of congregational mission and leadership at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. Previously, he was executive pastor at St. David's Episcopal Church in Ashburn, Va. He currently serves part-time as associate priest at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in St. Paul. His newest book, People of the Way: Renewing Episcopal Identity (Church Publishing) comes out right before the conference. As an adult convert raised in a secular home, he has a deep passion for equipping leaders to tell the Christian story in ways that touch the lives of people who have not heard it.

Zscheile was ordained in The Episcopal Church in 2005 and has served on mission and leadership task forces in the Dioceses of Minnesota and Virginia. Zscheile received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from Stanford University, Calif., in 1995, having also attended Oxford University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School, New Haven, Conn., in 1998. He completed the Doctor of Philosophy degree at Luther Seminary with a focus on congregational mission and leadership in 2008. Dwight Zscheile joined the Luther Seminary faculty in 2008 as assistant professor of Congregational Mission and Leadership, after serving as an adjunct instructor in church leadership at Luther Seminary in 2007 and 2008.

Dr. Zscheile was highly recommended by several priests in the diocese who have heard him and read his 2011 book, The Missional Church in Perspective: Mapping Trends and Shaping the Conversation. We are excited about his message to us.
