CLUB 345

We have started our Sunday School classes in a HUGE way with close to 60 children downstairs the first Sunday! Our Rite in the Middle Class (3rd-5th grades) had 27 students alone!!
This brings me to why I am writing to you. I have a program I want to implement with this age group and I will need a certain degree of parent support to make this happen. This past summer I attended a Christian Educators Conference at Kanuga, and one of the sessions I attended was called “Starting a Junior Youth Group”. The leader of the conference said that this has been one of the most successful endeavors she has ever led at her parish!

There are many ways to go about starting a Junior Youth Group, but I thought her layout was particularly good. The first Sunday of every month her 4th and 5th graders would meet immediately after church, have lunch there and then do various activities-sometimes going on a hike, sometimes j ust fun games at church, but all in all the focus was 90% social! They called themselves Club 45 because it was just for 4th and 5th graders. Of course since we would want to include the entire Rite in the Middle class, we could call it “Club 345”. A few parents have met with me and we came up with some guidelines and some activities we could do each month. Here’s what we came up with-
► It will be held the second Sunday of every month, starting in November.
► Children will be reminded to dress casually on that Sunday.
► We will collect fees that are needed for various activities on as needed basis, but please know that if financial help is needed it will be provided confidentially.
► Parents will sign up for the Sunday of their choice, listing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice. Hopefully you will only be called upon once, possible twice for the whole year! Also-first forms that come in get first priority!!!!

► Know that I will be here for every event so count me in with the parents participating
► We will use the new bus as often as possible, with some parents providing extra transportation
